Our client, located in Moray, is one of the UK’s largest forest nurseries and is the only UK forest nursery to produce both cell grown and bare root trees. The nursery in has been in tree production for over 200 years
We are seeking recruit a Technical/Sales Manager for the nursery business. The Technical Manager will oversee all production operations and be the principal point of contact with customers to drive sales. You will have overall responsibility for plant production, both bare root and cell grown, to meet sales orders and customers’ requirements. The position will report to, and work closely with, the Nursery General Manager.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to
Oversight of production operations from seed gathering/purchase through to the point of sale to customers
Organise/supervise seed collection from the in-house orchard
Purchasing of seed from suppliers as necessary
Quantify and procure all necessary nursery consumables as required
Liaise with customers and arrange logistics to ensure that delivery requirements are met
Being the primary point of contact with wholesale customers, maintaining these relationships and handling sales enquiries with these customers
Being the primary point of contact with suppliers of seeds and consumables to the nursery
Working with the General Manger to set annual plans and budgets for the business
Managing the production operation to agreed targets for both production and costs
Supervision of nursery staff working in operations
In conjunction with the Nursery General Manager, representing the company externally where appropriate at professional associations and trade organisations
Applicants will ideally have significant experience in the nursery or forestry business, ideally with specific experience of technical nursery management. A relevant degree level qualification would be preferable. The post will be based in Forres, with the occasional need to travel, with an attractive salary and benefits package which is negotiable depending upon the experience of the applicant
