Our client is a leading timber manufacturer and distributor to the DIY, and Builders Merchant markets. Its modern production and warehouse facilities provide high quality machined softwood products to the UK’s vital building material and joinery market. 

We now looking for 3 experienced multi-skilled engineers to join their growing Engineering team who will be an integral part of the business. Looking after their 10 operational lines which is due to increase to 11 in early 2022. Our client requires 3 multi-skilled engineers (2x days and 1x Nights 4 on 4 off) , with an electrical bias preferably from a high-volume production manufacturing or sawmilling environment. 

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking reactive maintenance duties and having a proactive approach to machinery.

  • Coordinating spares stock levels.

  • Working closely with production management to identify efficiency opportunities.

  • Sharing knowledge and best practice with machine operators.

  • New equipment installation.

  • Repair work including fabrication

  • Reading Electrical drawings and specifications

You will be a highly driven and determined individual who is able to solve problems and provide solutions, as this is the main part of your role.  You will have experience working with pneumatic and hydraulic systems preferably within a manufacturing environment.

Being professional and having excellent communication skills will be second nature to you – the important part is that you have experience of dealing with machine issues and managing multiple priorities.

Depending upon experience, the salary banding is up to £45k per annum (inclusive of shift allowance).  Our client also includes excellent benefits such as life assurance and pension contributions. 

There are 2 shift patterns available:

  • 12 hours per day, 4 on / 4 off (permanent days) 6am - 6pm

  • 12 hours per night, 4 on / 4 off (permanent nights) 6pm - 6am

  • Flexibility is required to cover sickness and annual leave
