Grounds Operations Manager

Starting Salary £36,922 rising to £38,890 – Pay award pending.

Are you passionate about parks and green spaces and providing high quality grounds maintenance services? Do you enjoy working to improve local environments and maintain award winning places for local residents and visitors?

If the answer is yes, then you may be just the person we are looking for to manage the day-to-day operations of the Council’s grounds maintenance service and help make Dunstable a better place.

Your Role

Dunstable Town Council manages 12 parks and recreation grounds, a large cemetery, 6 allotment sites, play areas including an adventure play area and a splash park, a skate park and BMX track, floral displays and a public realm Ranger Service. The Council currently holds three Green Flag Awards including a Green Heritage site. Dunstable regularly participates in Anglia in Bloom and has been selected as a Britain in Bloom finalist.

As the Council’s Grounds Operations Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day routine maintenance of these spaces and services and work closely with others to help shape and improve these green spaces.

About You

We are looking for someone with sound grounds maintenance knowledge, a background in green space management, a passion for delivering effective and efficient high quality horticultural services, a creative approach to problem solving and experience of managing a direct services workforce.

You will be a good communicator with strong organisational skills and the ability to plan work effectively within the resources available. You must have a flexible ‘can do’ approach to work and be willing to work some evenings and weekends. You must also be able to demonstrate that you are in touch with up to the minute grounds maintenance techniques, operational safety and best practice.
